Death and Change

[Return to the main Dreams page] [Return to the Glade] [Return to the Front Porch]

Death in dreams does not always, or even usually, represent actual physical death. More often it represents death of an old way of life, belief, or pattern. And these kinds of changes can cause us the same amount of anxiety as actual physical death can!

The person or anaimal that dies in your dream may represent the part of you that is dying or changing. If, for instance, you father dies in a dream, this does not usually mean your earthly father is actually about to die, it more often than not means that you are in the process of breaking free of some kind of self- or socially-imposed authority or in your life. This can be quite a frightening, uncertain time in your life!

Just remember that just as a seed must die in order to bear fruit, so must we experience these little deaths of old parts of ourselves as we go through life. If we are letting go of some old belief or lifestyle that has made us feel secure, even if it also made us feel miserable and trapped, then we are leaving room for new life and new sunrises to come to pass in our lives.

Blessed Be!
